Clean Out the Pantry & Refrigerator

The temptation and pull of junk food and old food habits can be powerful when making a significant change to your diet. We have found that an essential step for success in the early days of the transition is to make sure you start by cleaning out the junk.

We want to create an environment that fully supports your plant-based choices. You don’t want to make your home a place that requires a herculean effort of willpower to stay on track, so we want to get all the old animal products and junk food out of the house, so you know when you are home you are able to easily make good food choices.

Plan how you’re going to clean out your pantry and refrigerator, because you have to restock with core ingredients and fresh produce. Keep in mind that the weekly shopping list for Week 1’s menu will only become available in 10 days.

Let’s clean out all the old food and junk:

Dairy – We refer to milk as liquid meat because it contains all the harmful elements of meat plus the concentrations of pesticides, bacteria, antibiotics, and many other awful things we will cover later in the course. Cheese is just concentrated milk, so it all needs to go.

Eggs – eggs are just little meat capsules with all the concentrated cholesterol. We will get into eggs more later in the course, but just know for now they have to go.

Meat and Animal Products – beef, chicken, fish, pork, bacon, squirrel, snake, anything that at one time had a face is an animal product and needs to go.

Oils – All oils which are not extra virgin cold-pressed, have to go. I will cover oils in more depth later in the course, but for now, all the processed foods with added oils, and the oils themselves, have to go.

Processed foods and added refined sugar – this applies to vegan processed foods as well, because whether or not they are vegan, if they are filled with added oils, sugars, and salt they are really just junk food with “healthy” marketing.

This might feel like a waste of money, to throw away what seems like perfectly good food, but remember junk food is not really food at all, it is the source of disease and health problems. Let’s get the junk out so we have room to make a fresh start and then take the next step in our preparations and restock our home with plant-based goodness.

As you progress through the course, you will learn why this is necessary. The combination of these foods greatly contributes to your disease.

REMEMBER! Your food is your medicine!
